Normal CTG
Normal CTG
C: ≤5 per 10 min · BRa: 110-160 bpm · V: 5–25 bpm (normal) · A: Present · D: None or early only
- Interpret in clinical context (fluid balance, sepsis, position, medications, GA).
- Document DR-C-BRAVADO summary + classification + plan in the notes.
- Reassess every 15–30 min for suspicious/pathological traces.
- If in doubt, ask for a second opinion — CTG has poor inter-rater reliability.
Reference range
Baseline 110–160 · Variability 5–25 bpm · Accels ≥15 bpm × 15 s · No late/atypical variable decels (NICE NG229 2022)
Common pitfalls
- Interpret in clinical context (fluid, sepsis, position).
- One feature ≠ pathological — count them.
