Mechanism
Cu²⁺ toxic to sperm/ovum; foreign-body endometrial reaction prevents implantation.

Contraindications
- AbsoluteActive PID/STI, pregnancy, unexplained PV bleed, distorted cavity

Side effects
- Heavier/longer menses
- Insertion pain, expulsion ~5%

- • Remove if pregnancy on board (↓ miscarriage/sepsis).
